Bart's "World Famous" Party "Barty Smoothie"
WITH PINEAPPLE, RED GRAPES & PINK LEMONADE CONCENTRATE
A Drink Recipe From Bart's Cookbook 🕮 Who's Hungry? © 2024 by Bart Smith
RECIPE INTRODUCTION
You’re in for a real treat with my world famous party smoothie recipe no matter when you make it, who you make it for, or how many pitchers you make! Check this out ...
FIRST, the history and background: Being the quasi-health conscientious person I am, I quickly grew tired of drinking beer, wine and liquor at parties for all the right reasons. Beer leaves me full and dehydrated, I’m not a huge fan of wine after 1/2 of a glass, and I’m not one to consume hard alcohol. I decided that I needed a drink for me that would satisfy my desire for a nice buzz, but then be good for the body. BAM! Make your own blended beverage! I experimented with a lot of combinations and, finally, I nailed it. With my new creation, I was able to serve the body (fruit) and the mind (alcohol). The perfect party beverage!
SECOND, examples ... I can remember so many occasions over the years where I would bring my party smoothie-making supplies and steal the show with lines of people wanting to drop whatever else they were drinking and fill their cup with my party smoothie. I’ve put wine bars out of business, made 30+ pitchers at a party, saw people return again and again for their 2nd, 3rd, and 4th cup. I like to tease people, “You don’t want any of this. Well, here, try just a little.” Before you know it, there’s a crowd around me wanting to try it. Chilled with blended ice to keep you cool on a hot day, frothy enough to give you a different texture when drinking, doesn’t leave you bloated, does leave you buzzed if there’s alcohol in it, and yet, swap out the vodka for water and you have the virgin version of my party smoothie for the kids to enjoy too.
THIRD, your turn! Try this recipe anytime you have a party, get-together or you’re at someone else’s party. Shop, pack and take your own smoothie supplies, blender and ask for a little space in the kitchen to whip up these party delights. Watch how you become the go-to person for drinks at the party. You might not leave the kitchen, but you’ll meet everyone as they stop by for their first, second, third or more smoothie. Seriously!
EQUIPMENT NEEDED
❑ BLENDER — I use my personal Ninja Professional blender, but you can use whatever type blender you have on hand. TIP: If you're making my party smoothie for a party where there are 10 or more people interested in your smoothies, then use a big blender. You make more, can serve more, and well, more people smile when you serve many and not just a few at once.
❑ PARTY CUPS — Are you at a party? I love using these red party cups. If you're at home, any glass or mug will do.
❑ CUTTING BOARD — I use one to slice and dice my pineapple on it. You can use a plate if that's all you have.
❑ SERRATED BREAD KNIFE — These are some of the best knives to cut through a pineapple quickly. Then, for fine cutting, just use a regular sharp knife.
NOT SEEN HERE, BUT ...
❑ KITCHEN SINK — I know it sounds obvious you'd be making my party smoothies in a kitchen where you have access to running water to wash your hands and your smoothie making machine; BUT if you're ever asked to make these at a party, BE SURE there's a sink with a disposal (desired) so you can clean up as you go. When I made 30 pitches at a party once, I definitely needed access to running water next to where I was making my smoothies.
❑ TRASH CAN — Again, common sense, but be sure you have access to a waste can so you can toss out pineapple skins and other items to keep your smoothie area clean and neat. When I made 30 pitches at a party once, I definitely needed access to a trash can.
INGREDIENTS
Gauge all suggested ingredients based on the size of your blender and adjust accordingly. That's what I do.
❑ 2-3 cups of ice (gauge based on blender size)
❑ 1-2 cups of pineapple (never include the skin or the center)
❑ 1 handful of red grapes (seedless)
❑ 3/4 cup of vodka (is best; my favorite is SKYY vodka, but any vodka will do), rum (is next) and tequila (if that's all you got). Sometimes, you don't have vodka on hand, but you've got another liquor. Use, what you've got.
❑ 1.5 cups of cold water. You see, this recipe calls for 1/3 (or 1/4) alcohol and 2/3 (or 3/4) water. Use 100% water if you want to make this a virgin drink for the kids or anyone who prefers a non-alcoholic beverage.
❑ 1/3 can of pink lemonade concentrate. Really, 1/3 is all you need. This helps make 3 pitchers worth roughly. Also, you can choose any brand you can find, where pink lemonade is concerned, be in MinuteMaid®, Winco®, etc.
